A makeover...story

Hi !!!!
After settling down in Bangalore, It is now time for me to re-do some of the very old rugged furniture that we had. So, to begin with, I started with this simple Chair. This was carpented by a local artisan in the year 1984 and was being used at my in-laws as a writing table chair. This is made out of pure teak wood and is painted in an off-white oil colour. Since I wanted to match it with the decor of my house, I decided to bedeck this with some colourful kundan stones .

Since my childhood days, I have always been fascinated by the different shapes, sizes and the vibrant colours of kundan stones. I have always considered this as my favourite in decorating articles. They were primarily found and used in Rajasthan. But today, most of the shops in the neighbourhood have a huge collection of kundan stones in various colours shapes and sizes.

The chair is bedecked with kundan stones to form a pattern. I then painted the rest of the portion in Artist's Gold paint.

    A quick question :
    Is there something special about the kundan stones ..and where would you get to buy them ?

    I am looking at your chair , again n again . It is a beautiful makeover. wish i could see it in person ..sometimes the pictures dont do enough justice to the piece :)

    this is a wonderful piece of art with very little added but creating a very good piece of furniture. It looks more like one of those Mysore palace furniture collection used by a princess to sit on before her dressing table :)

    This chair looks amazing...there's nothing like refurbishing old stuff. I am sure I can locate some old tattered pieces in our shed in Calcutta to redo....love the shade of gold u have used and it kind of has a subtle textured feel to it. U r very talented vasu.
